Blue, yellow, and green?

Sunday, February 28, 2010
Why yes, those are the colors that Sydney selected for her finger nails and toe nails! She had the luxury of attending a Birthday party yesterday where they got manicure and pedicures, then headed over to Sammy's Pizza for dinner & cake...lucky girl! I was so jealous. I would not have chosen the colors she did, but hey, she's unique :)

She even got to get pretty designs on her thumbs!

And the pretty toes:

Father/Daughter Sweetness

Saturday, February 27, 2010
Sydney and Jason went to the elementary school Father/Daughter dance a week ago. They had a "double date" with Sydney's friend (Sydney) and her Dad. They went out to dinner at Chili's, then off to the dance (but of course I made them stop for 10 minutes first for some photos!)

Jason got Sydney a corsage, she loved it!

Here's my pretty girl:

And my pretty girl with her handsome Daddy:

Here's the whole gang, ready to go:

And, the two Sydney's together:

And one more of the girls, I think they're plotting something:

They had so much fun together. I'm so glad our school does this every year, and that Jason is such a good Daddy to take her!

A different way to watch the Ipod

Friday, February 26, 2010
I guess this is how you watch movies when you're a restless 6 year old!

Grandma's New Puppy

Thursday, February 25, 2010
My Mom has been asking me to take some pictures of her new doggy, Cleopatra, so we can send some to her Mom. Today we went over to visit Grandma, so I brought my "little camera", and snapped a few pictures. Brooke is in love with Cleo, they cuddled, and Brooke even wanted her to come with us to Target.

We'll have to get Cleo out for some "real" pictures someday soon!

A cute family at the beach

Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Tricia and I got to photograph an adorable family at Windansea Beach in La Jolla last weekend. The husband is being deployed in a couple of weeks, and will be gone for a year, so they wanted to capture some nice photos before he goes.

Duke, the dog, absolutely adored his Daddy. This is my favorite photo of the day:

And here are a few more from our session:

She looks like a new kid!

Short hair, no teeth...I barely recognize her in this picture!

Seriously...

Monday, February 22, 2010
Why on earth is it SO hard to get Sydney to take medicine?! The girls and I spent the morning at the Urgent Care clinic. Sydney and I have bronchitis, and Brooke has what they think is some sort of flu virus. There is nothing Brooke can take except Tylenol and Motrin, but Sydney and I got an antibiotic. When we got home Brooke took her Motrin with absolutley no issue, but Sydney, oh my goodness...you would have thought I was beating her. She pleaded & begged to take a nap instead, anything but taking that darn medicine. We battled for over an hour, and FINALLY it went down. Whew! 4 more days to go...

My Sexy Partner

Sunday, February 21, 2010
We had quite the day today! We started off with a photoshoot in Temecula at 10 am, back down to San Diego for Syd's modeling rehearsal, off to La Jolla for a dog family photo session, then out to La Mesa for a meeting with a potential bride & groom client. After our WINDY session at La Jolla Tricia's hair just looked so lovely. She asked me to take a picture of her to put on her blog...but guess what, it's going on MINE :D.

My poor baby girl

Saturday, February 20, 2010
After throwing up in her bed she asked to come downstairs to the couch. I laid her on the couch, she passed right out, but she moved so much she worked herself right to the ground, and kept right on sleeping.

There is a sure-fire way to get Brooke in a picture

Friday, February 19, 2010
Tell her she can't be in one! I was trying to get the traditional walking away photo of Ryan & Kylene, but Brooke just had to be part of the game. So, instead we caught a cute one of the three buddies.

And one of Brooke showing them how the walking thing is done:

And, here are some more of Ryan & Ky Ky:

(I just love the look Kylene is giving her big brother in that shot!)

Ryan has gorgeous blue eyes...

And, Ky Ky has the cutest natural model head tilt. If only we could get it in sync with a smile, next to her brother looking and giving a natural smile, we'd be set!

I have to say, the pictures turned out better than expected considering the circumstances. Now, we are on a mission to get a great family picture this Summer!

A rare sight

Thursday, February 18, 2010
My sweet baby girl completely conked out after a morning at Sea World with her buddies yesterday. I went in to grab her so we could go pick up Sydney from school, and she didn't even budge. Normally the minute I open the door her eyes pop open, so this time I took the opportunity to sneak some pictures. I took a ton, and still had to wake her up. Such a shame!

It's Sharing Day

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Sydney's class cycles through one at a time taking home the sharing bag. Today was Sydney's day. Here are the three clues for her item:

1) I got it at the Zoo
2) It has a baby panda on it
3) It used to be worth one cent

Can you guess what it is?

It's a squished penny!

Ry Ry and Ky Ky

Tuesday, February 16, 2010
We have had so much fun with our buddies who are visiting us from Northern California. They came from 37 degree weather, so they are LOVING our 80 degree San Diego days. One of the big goals of the trip was to get some cute pictures of Ryan and Kylene. We've learned our lesson on several occasions to not wait until the last day, but today was the only day that it fit...we've been too busy with Zoo, Sea World, and naps for it to happen any other day. So, this morning we set out to a close by park area, and gave it our best shot. We definitely did not get the results we had envisioned...BUT, the first picture of the day turned out super cute :). The sun was a little pesky at 10 am, but hey, that's what we get for waiting!

My Snuggle Bug

Monday, February 15, 2010
I had the horrific task of putting back on the duvet cover after washing it (I hate doing that!), and Miss Brooke was watching Dora. She did NOT want to budge while I made the bed, so I made it on top of her. In the midst of the chaos, a cute picture opp presented itself!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Sunday, February 14, 2010
Brooke and a bunch of her buddies had so much fun decorating cookies the other day!

As soon as Sydney got home she begged to eat one, I said sure, but FIRST, I need some photos :). Brooke waited patiently, while staring at her cookie:

Sydney gave me the "Are you serious?!" look:

And then they got to eat!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Sometimes I have to be sneaky!

Saturday, February 13, 2010
Brooke was sportin' Sydney's old sunglasses a few days ago (prior to her new hairdo, new hairdo pictures coming soon...this one sure looks sloppy now!). I begged her to let me take a picture, but she just wasn't going for it. She turned her back to me, and was a little booger. BUT, as she turned around to see if I was still there, I caught her!

It worked, it worked!

Remember Archie, as seen on my blog last week? Here he is, all droopy and ready to go to our Girl Scout meeting!

We gave him some water at the beginning of the meeting, and he perked up rather nicely for the girls. They were SO excited. I sent him home with a nice Girl Scout family who has an herb garden. He will have a much longer life with them than here. Bye Archie, thanks for your help!

Oh, and one of my brilliant blog readers told me about the celery trick, which also demonstrates how the plants absorb the water up into their leaves. Check out the awesome blue celery leaves we got for our meeting!

The girls loved that as well, so cool.

Whew, one meeting down, one more to go. Our next one is about seeds, and how easily they can scatter about. Does anyone have any brilliant meeting ideas for that one?

My American Girl

Thursday, February 11, 2010
She got selected! Sydney is going to be an American Girl model for a fashion show in March. Here's one more picture of her with her doll to celebrate :).

Brooke in Action

Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Here is Brooke's action shot. She was running so fast, chasing her sister on the scooter. She makes me nervous when she does that. I'd say she falls about 75% of the time. Be careful, Brooke!

Ugg, that seventies and texture really bugged me on that picture, so much that I had to go back a few days and replace it...whew!

Scooter Action

Tuesday, February 9, 2010
I took some pictures of the girls playing outside the other day, but Sydney was dressed in her sloppy Sydney do-it-herself style, so I decided to get creative with my composition :). Then it turned into some experimenting with processing - here's a little "seventies" style, with some texture as well. Let me know what you think! Brooke's action shot will come tomorrow.

Every day it's a battle!

Monday, February 8, 2010
Naptime! Ugg, she is so stubborn. I took this picture of the monitor last week when she was actually having a great nap, so I was excited, but never used the picture. Today is the ultimate battle day, so it seems fitting. She is screeeeeaming as I type this :(.

Please go to sleep little miss, please, please, Mommy needs a break.

Brooke Loves Piggies!

Sunday, February 7, 2010
Brooke is in a definite piggie phase, she LOVES pigs...any pig she sees just cracks her up (it all started with the pirate pigs on Dora, but has extended to any pig she sees). So, in honor of her love of pigs, here she is with Mr. Piggy Bank Pig!

We have to keep track!

Saturday, February 6, 2010
Part of Sydney's weekly homework is to log her reading. I think it's cute to watch her write so intently, so here she is, logging her latest book!

Now that she's doing her own logging, I've actually had to limit what she writes, or else the whole page would be full in one day!

Introducing Archie & Sage

Friday, February 5, 2010
I introduce to you Archie, he is an artichoke plant:

And, this is Sage, and well, she is a Sage plant :)

I have taken on a crazy project in order to help educate my daughter's Girl Scout troop next week. It is crazy, insane, so darn silly to think I'm going to pull this off, but I am going to give it a shot. We are learning about plants, and how they get their nutrients, and so the goal is to bring in a plant (or two, just because I know I'm going to fail at this) that is somewhat wilted, and demonstrate to the girls how giving it some water brings it back to life. So I went to Walter Anderson's, and told this nice man my plan. He gave me quite the interesting look, but guided me to lovely Archie and Sage, because apparently they are very tolerant to this type of stress, and tend to recover quickly. So, I have one week to master the art of getting them wilty without killing them, yet timing it just so that they don't die by next week, but stay wilty. Not one plant that has come into my house has managed to survive, I am hoping these sweet little guys can make it through my torture.

Here they are hanging out together, spending a little quality time in the sun...I think that's a good idea, right?
