My Crazy Uncle

Sunday, May 30, 2010
My Uncle P has a hidden talent! He sent me this video the other day, and it made me giggle, so I thought I'd share. Hee hee. I don't think you're supposed to do this while you're driving, my dear uncle. He informed me that he was very careful while he made this video though, whew!

Tomorrow is his Birthday...happy Birthday Uncle P. We love you!

A Princess Party!

Saturday, May 29, 2010
Yesterday was Brooke's first official "big girl party". She has been to a ton of Birthday parties, but this was her first where just she was invited, by one of her buddies from school. She made sure to let everyone know that Sydney was not invited.

Sleeping Beauty came to the party, but Brooke wasn't super thrilled with sitting and listening to her stories and songs. She enjoyed the slide instead, and with a dress that's a bit too long, and the insistence on carrying a ball at the same time, she kept Mommy on her toes!

She did enjoy the pass-the-bear game:

And, was excited to get a butterfly painted on her arm:

Overall it was a very fun party. Here's the whole princess gang:

I guess we're ready for another party! (Next weekend...)

Last Day of Sonshine Kids (Cellphone Style)

Friday, May 28, 2010
I have been way too lazy lately about taking pictures with my good camera, mainly because I'm too lazy to process them afterward. But, I AM keeping up with everything via my cellphone. What ever did we do before we had cameras in our cellphones?

Anyway, Monday was Brooke's very last Sonshine Kids class. It's a bit sad as it is most likely her last "Mommy & Me" class, ever. She is a big girl now, and will be heading off to official preschool in September. Sniff sniff, and yay all at the same time!

One of the big events of the Sonshine Kids class is snacktime without Mom, very exciting. Here's Brooke at the table ready for snack:

And, ready for storytime:

Finally, dress-up time. She has learned from her big sis, that when a fancy dress comes on, dancing must begin. She was making me giggle as she danced and checked herself out in the mirror :).

Thanks for putting up with my lousy/sideways pictures and videos! I promise better things are to come soon!

Getting Ready for the Big Recital!

Thursday, May 27, 2010
Sydney's Tap & Jazz recitals are next Friday, so today they got to wear their outfits to class for fitting. I didn't bring my "real" camera, but here's a sneak peek from my cellphone!

Outfit #1 (for tap)...Sydney loves it (it's kinda hard to tell, but it's a dress):

Outfit #2 (for jazz, with two of her buddies)...Sydney does not love the pants-ness of this one, but I sure think it's cute:

More to come next week after the official dress rehearsal with hair and makeup done!

My Hula Girl

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
There are so many little skills that kids learn as they grow. Some of them just seem to click out of nowhere. We have always been so excited as Sydney picked things up, like bike riding, crossing the monkey bars, and now hula hooping. The last time I remember her trying at a store, the hoop dropped straight to the ground. And now, without any guidance she just knows how to do it. So of course, Daddy bought her one :).

And, you know there is a story behind the jeans...she got a new movie the other night and wanted to watch it before bed. I just felt like having her wear pants for a change, so I told her if she promised to wear pants the next day she could stay up a little late and watch the movie. Can you believe she had to seriously think about it? She tried to back out of it the next day too.

Sydney can hula hoop!

Monday, May 17, 2010
I have to admit we haven't tried this very often, since we don't own a hula hoop, but the last time I remember her attempting at a store she was not even close to keeping the hoop up on her hips. Yesterday she gave it a shot, and she could actually do it! Go Syd! (We may have to go back and get one)

Here's Brooke's least she can wiggle her hips :)

Colton turned 7!

Saturday, May 15, 2010
And, he had a super fun pool party!

There was great food,

great fun,

of course, Colton in the air,

and yummy ice cream cake!

He got tons of great gifts!

Look who made out with all the balloons! She knows how to sweet talk Trevor :)

Happy 7th Birthday Colton!

My dear nephew turns 7 today, time is just flying! Here is one of my favorite pictures of him and Sydney, a couple of months before he turned 4. They are so cute!

Sweet Mother's Day Gifts

Sunday, May 9, 2010
Happy Mother's Day to all of my Mom friends and family!

My kids made great gifts for me this year, so I thought I'd share.

Sydney wrote me a very nice note, and made a nice handprint heart that I can hang.

And, Brooke's teachers helped her with a cute little tile - the spots are her fingerprints. Very sweet!

Thanks girls, I love you!

They got waddled!

Wednesday, May 5, 2010
At Sydney's elementary school, they offer "waddling" as a fundraising event. For $25 you can have a huge flock of plastic penguins placed in someone's yard, with a note saying they've been waddled. For teacher appreciation week, the class had a waddle sent to Mrs. Corry's classroom. Man, the kids thought that was great. Too bad Sydney's Birthday is in the Summer, she would DIE to wake up with penguins all over her yard!!

Here's the class with all the penguins (taken by another Mom)...

Today she learned how to draw a sun

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

And she got really good at using Sydney's scissors...

Yesterday her people started to have arms and legs :)

It's so fun to watch them learn. Every little step is amazing.

It was a great season!

Monday, May 3, 2010
The Blue Angels softball team had their last game Saturday, and then the end of season party at the park afterward. Our awesome coaches got each of the girls a sunflower among other gifts, and the girls loved them. Sydney checks hers each morning and tells me it is growing :).

Here are all of the girls!

The treasured trophy

Sunday, May 2, 2010
Yesterday was Sydney's last softball game, and team party. They got trophies, and the snippet of the team banner that had their name on it. Sydney was so proud, she set them out on our entry table for everyone to see.

Our first family photo

Saturday, May 1, 2010
Tricia took this photo for us back in December of 2007. Brookie was just 4 months old, and Sydney 4 years old! I'm so glad we were able to capture a photo back then...they grow way too fast. Looking forward to an updated picture this Summer!
