The only negative to our Los Angeles American Girl adventure...the 101 freeway! But, it's kind of fun being in the backseat with a camera...I took our truck self portrait...do you see us?

Happy Birthday to my sweet 7 year old girl!

Tuesday, July 27, 2010
Today is Sydney's Birthday, and I had planned to dig up some baby photos, and reminisce about how much she has grown. But, well, those pictures are on another computer, and since we spent most of the day in the car today I'm a tiny bit tired. We will reminisce next year! :)

We had a wonderful day with great buddies at the American Girl store in Los Angeles. Sydney added a new girl (Megan) to our family. Here she is with Natalie and Megan:

And, here she is with her great buddy Autumn:

Thanks Auty, Tricia, and Carleigh, for a wonderful day!

Frosting Cupcakes

Monday, July 26, 2010
Yesterday was Sydney's Birthday party. Sydney helped me bake the cupcakes on Saturday, but we still needed to frost them. So, the first thing I woke up to Sunday morning was the question, "Can we frost my cupcakes now?" Sure! So, I let them loose with the cupcakes...

I think this is the first time I actually let them have full control of the frosting. They did better than I expected! We won't mention the few licks that snuck in here and there...

Or the two that Brooke dropped on the floor...

In the end, they turned out great!

So pretty...

This couple really made it easy to get pretty photos...

The kiss...

I'm still plugging away at all the wedding photos from last weekend, it's a slow process. But, I've made it through the ceremony now, yippee!

Here's the kiss...

The Birthdays are coming!

It is Birthday season around the Griffin house, we are busy planning parties! Brooke is having a puppy party, she can't wait. We did her invitation picture this week, here's our cute little puppy:

LOTS of wedding pictures!

Mamarazzi shot another wedding on Sunday, and we took a TON of photos! So, I have been so busy working on those pictures that I haven't taken any new ones of my own. I spent the first hour in the bride's room, while she got ready. Here are a few pictures I took during that time.

The adorable little flower girls:

And, a gorgeous bride:

More to come soon!

This is not the time Mom...

When I went downstairs she had some books to read, when I came back she was busy digging in Sydney's jewelry box. I'm not sure if the look I got was related to the camera or the fact that she was caught red-handed...

The fruits of her labor

Wednesday, July 7, 2010
This picture just makes me smile, it is a symbol of pure sweet innocence in my cute Sydney. We came home a couple of days ago to find our neighbors had done a ton of gardening, and were carrying out yard waste. Sydney immediately asked if she could help, and they of course said yes. She yelled, "I'll be right there!", ran into the house, and came out with her gardening gloves. She went next door on her own, and helped for about 30 minutes, then came home excited as could be with her payment of 4 lemons and a peach. She set them on the counter top, and sat down to rest, and this is exactly how I found her stuff later that afternoon:

She told me later on that she told them she would clean their house, and they could just give her one lemon per week. I might have to grow a lemon tree in my backyard so I can put her to work.

Last night she and Daddy turned those lemons into homemade lemonade...YUM!

She was more interested in the bubbles

Last weekend I took some pictures for Karin's extended family (her parents, brother, his wife, and adorable little girl). Kate is just 18 months, and at the age where sitting still for the camera is just not an option. We did get some good photos though, including a great one of the whole bunch:

We got a few of Karin, Alex, and Luna, but Karin claims she has 5 chins, so I won't post those. And, we got a few of her parents as well, but then out came the bubbles, and we spent the rest of our time chasing cute little Kate while she was in awe of the bubbles! She has the most gorgeous blue eyes, that would have looked so amazing if she would have stopped and smiled for just one second...but it's ok, we'll get you next time, Kate ;).

My little swimmer girl

Monday, July 5, 2010
I am so proud of how well Brooke is doing in her swim class. She is so brave. She's taking off from the steps and swimming to her teacher, going down the slides, and jumping in off the side of the pool.

Here she is getting ready to jump, thinking about it...

Gearing up...

And there she goes!

She is also very proud of how well she is doing. She likes to tell us what a good swimmer she is. Here she is getting herself to the steps...

Two more weeks of swim class for Brooke, I'm hoping to get to where I feel like she is safe in the water, at least in case she ever fell in by accident. She's getting there!

A weekend away, yippee!

A couple of college buddies and I started a tradition long before having children...Vegas! Now that two of us have kids, we get to go less often, but we sure do enjoy ourselves when we get to go. And, we so greatly appreciate the awesome hubbies who are willing to take care of the children themselves while we're gone :).

I didn't bring a camera this year, and I was regretting that decision. However, the cellphone camera came in quite handy, and made the goofy photos that much more goofy. Here we are in all of our wackiness...

I am having trouble getting to the YouTube page that gives me the embed link, it keeps getting stuck. In the meantime, click here to watch.
