Brooke LOVES puzzles!  These are old pictures, but I came across them on a memory card, and since I've been on a bit of a camera strike I figured I could load them up!  So anyway, I got her this giant puzzle, figured it would keep her busy for a while.  She dug right in...

And it took a total of...8 minutes.  So Mom, what's next?!

It looks like Christmas around here!

Tuesday, December 20, 2011
Thanks to my kids and their schools we have an abundance of new Christmas decorations, it's definitely Christmas at the Griffin house.

We have a beautiful chain to count down the days until Christmas, and our eager preschooler is sure to take a link off first thing when she wakes up each day...just 5 links left!!

We have an adorable elf made in the 3rd grade class.  And, look, or real elf is hiding in his lap today!

We have a precious angle made by our precious preschooler.  She watches over me while I cook:

And of course, a most lovely holiday card made by our smart 3rd grader...

A lovely preschool tree that sheds lovely sparkles all across our house...

The traditional photo frame, with a picture always taken on the worst hair day of the year ;)

And, last but not least, and adorable angel in an adorable ornament:

I'd say we're ready...bring on Christmas!!

Ship me to China!

Monday, December 19, 2011
We received a shipment of presents in this large box, which Sydney took a liking to, of course.  She showed us that she fit inside it:

And then asked us to tape her up and ship her to China.  Her friend Lillian is there, she wants to go visit her.  It's tempting...

Dear Santa....

Friday, December 16, 2011
We made our annual visit to Santa's house a couple of nights ago!  The girls sat down and wrote their notes to Santa...

Here was Sydney's note:

A better view of the writing, before she drew the dog...

Brooke drew him a nice picture.  She got the names down though :)

Then they put the notes in Santa's mailbox:

Then finally, they got to talk to him in person.  A dog is what they want...they both asked him for a dog, for the second time.  I keep explaining that Mommy does not want a dog, but they are holding out hope that Santa will not listen to Mommy!

Merry Christmas Santa, we'll see you soon!

My little angel

Today was the preschool Nativity play, Brooke was an angel.  She mastered her lines perfectly...SO cute!

The start of a new sport!

Basketball!  Today was Sydney's first game.  And, after just two practices she jumped right out there and did her best.  It was quite fun to watch.  I love how she'll just get out there and try anything, without any hesitation.

Poor girl bonked heads with someone...

Babysitting

Sunday, November 27, 2011
Sydney was so excited about this.  She even told random strangers, "I get to take home the class Hermit Crab over Thanksgiving!  That means I get him for TEN days."

So, claw came home with her about 9 days ago, she promptly set up his food and water, and got him all situated, and we all watched.

He is very exciting.  He spends 99% of his time like this:

There he is, in the left front corner.  Just a big lump of shell.
Once a day we pick him up to make sure he's alive.  A creepy crawly little guy comes out and takes a peek at us.

And, usually he'll go take a bite or two of his food, then dump the rest, and crawl back into his corner.  Such an exciting pet.

The champs!

I was a shameful photographer last weekend...my big girl's soccer team won the championship for the entire division, and my camera was nowhere to be seen.  Well, that is a bit of a lie...it was in the trunk, with the flash nowhere to be seen.  I attempted a quick snap with my cellphone, but all I got was a big blur of blue mush.

But, Audrey's Mom to the rescue...we have a team championship picture...WHEW!

And yes, they all have blue hair.  We blue-flame'd 'em up before the big game :).

It was a long day.  And, it was a very cold day!

It started at 8:30 am with our first soccer game, which we blasted through with a score of 6-0.  Our second game was at 12:30, and gave us a bit more of a challenge, but ended with a score of 6-3 (us).  The last two games...oh my...the last two games were SO exciting!  Both games ended in a tie, and came down to a tie breaker shoot off.  Our Blue Flames pulled it off, and won first place!

It was a high-five kinda day :)

Focusing hard on her prayer before digging in for her preschool feast!

And, performing adorable Thanksgiving songs with her class!

Love it!

Friday was the traditional Halloween parade at Brooke's preschool.  They all dress up and walk two big loops around the school while all the parents take a million pictures.  Brooke's teacher taught the class the "parade wave", and Brooke had it down pat.  She practiced at home, and I was surprised she actually did it the ENTIRE parade.  SO cute!

Today was letter "G" day

And her not as pretty pumpkin...

Tonight was the Fall Festival at Sydney's school.  She wanted to enter the pumpkin decorating contest, and she wanted a witch.  So, that's what she made (with Daddy's help).  It didn't win first prize, but it got a lot of compliments :).

Proud of my girl Sydney

Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Today is Ellen Browning Scripps' 175th Birthday!  She is the amazing woman that Sydney's school was named after, so today the 3rd graders put on a nice assembly in her honor.  Sydney was selected as one of five kids in her class to come up and speak.  I was impressed with how easy this was for her, and how proud and excited she was.  She even volunteered to go first, which no one else wanted to do.

Here's a snippet from the assembly, when she got to speak...

Serious Goalie

Friday, October 14, 2011
Brooke is playing soccer now...she's on the Orange Tigers!  She loves playing goalie, and takes the job very seriously.  Her hands stay out like this the whole time, and if anyone comes close she gives them a growl look to scare them away.  It's pretty scary!

How Sydney has fun on her playdates

Monday, October 10, 2011
Sydney had a buddy over to play last week, and for fun they decided to "dress up" Brooke and our neighbor Sammy. They started with jeweled stickers on the faces...

And here was the lovely result:

And then the stickers spread into necklaces, bracelets, and anklets...

And the work was complete with the princess dresses!  Thankfully Brooke and Sammy are very patient subjects.  The big girls had SO much fun, Syd's buddy begged her Mom to let her stay longer.

Sydney's class

Wednesday, October 5, 2011
I love, love, love Sydney's teacher this year.  She is awesome.  She has a love for art, so the kids are getting to make a bunch of fun projects.  And, she has a blog!  She updates it each week, and so far we've gotten to see two pictures of the entire class.  So cute!  Here they are with their library books...

Love these girls

Tuesday, October 4, 2011
They are such sweet sisters (75% of the time).  Brooke was taking her time doing her business, and her sweet sister offered to read to her.  As I walked upstairs, this is what I saw...and it made me smile :).

My driveway

Monday, October 3, 2011
My driveway is very cute right now.  Brooke set out on a mission to write all of her ABC's.  It took her quite a while, as she had to sing the alphabet after each letter she wrote to figure out what came next.  26 times through the alphabet song, and a lot of determination, and she did a great job!

And she's off!

Saturday, October 1, 2011
Sydney was up and out of the house super early this morning.  She went to Girl Scout "Adventure Zone", where they build confidence and team building skills through rock climbing, ropes courses, etc.  She was SO excited.  We had to be at her school for drop off at 7:45 am, so I told her she had to be up super early.  She proved me wrong by getting up 30 minutes before our alarm clock went off, set and ready to go.

She looked super cute in her pigtails, hat, and of course, it's October 1st, so time for pumpkin earrings!

I can't wait to pick her up at 1:30 and find out how much fun she had!
