He's MY nephew!

Saturday, April 30, 2011
My superstar nephew was voted most exceptional player on his baseball team!  We went to watch today, and he is indeed amazing.  He's also up for most exceptional player in the whole entire league, and has 4 votes already, so it's looking like he might win that too!  GOOOOO Coltey!

Talent Show Day!

Friday, April 29, 2011
My big girl Sydney is a go, go, go kind of girl.  If someone invites her to do something, she's all for it.  So, when her good buddy Sanjana asked if she wanted to be in the talent show at the elementary school, of course she said yes.  The girls have been practicing a lot, and tonight is the big show!

Here are the adorable girls at dress rehearsal yesterday...they are doing a jazz routine to "Hit me With your Best Shot"...Fire awaaaaaay....

It was a nice Easter Brunch

Monday, April 25, 2011
The girls found a bunch of eggs (26 to be exact, here they are counting)...

Sydney got transformed into a bunny thanks to the face painter..

Brooke is not a fan of the paint on the face, but she made sure to get a lion on her arm...

And, one of my girls wanted to pose with the Easter bunny...the other made sure to grasp my leg nice & tight when the bunny came near.

And, here is our lovely ladies.  We didn't get a chance to get a picture with Papa.  He had a bloody lip that didn't want to stop, and that is just not lovely for pictures ;).

Happy Easter!

Spring Pictures

Both of my girls were sick and missed Spring picture day at school.  It was great for me because although I say I won't buy any of the pictures (since I take a million myself, and don't need them), it's always hard to resist the official school picture, no matter how bad.

So, we went out and took our own pictures!

My beautiful Sydney is my best model these days..

And, this is the best we got of Miss Brooke...

7 year old creativity

Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Sydney is just full of creativity.  She is always working on some sort of interesting project, and although my first response often tends to be irritation at the scraps and messes left behind, I do like to stop and recognize her creative little brain.  And, before I throw yet another stack of paper away, I want to take pictures and remember her interesting little thought processes.

Her latest creation...she traced her hand twice, once spread out, and once pointing.  Then, she cut them out, added on fingernails, a bracelet, and watch.  Then she got out the glue, and glued them standing up.  I found this lovely little masterpiece sitting in the sun drying...

What we would ever do with such an item, I am not sure!  And, I had to remind her to throw away the extra paper pieces, put away the crayons, and glue, etc.  But, it's ok...she'll remember some day, I'm sure.

Here's another little drawing that made me giggle.  It's a girl falling over, and Sydney attempted to write "uh oh".  I guess if you were 7, and sounding out "uh oh", that makes sense, right?  The u says "uh", haha.

We proved her wrong

Brooke made a beautiful kite in preschool, and we got to take it home today.  Ms Lugo saw Brooke holding it up on her way out, and said "it doesn't really fly like a real kite, but it's pretty."  So, we drove home, pulled into the garage, and Brooke hopped out and started running around like crazy outside...and guess what, her kite flew!

All smiles

Two sisters, sitting in the cul-de-sac, sharing apples together, protected by their umbrella as Daddy washes his car.  Random sprays hit them every so often, and send shrieks through the streets.  Doesn't get much better than this :)

I love to watch her pitch

She seems like such a big girl, out there as a pitcher.

She's ALL muscle!

Sunday, April 10, 2011
Just one more image to share from the Carlsbad race last weekend!  I was glancing through the pictures of Sydney running, and on this image...with her from far, far away...I noticed what looked like big muscle bulges coming out of her tiny little legs...

So, I cropped in on those legs, and WOW, look at those muscles!  Go Sydney!!

Run, girls, run!

Monday, April 4, 2011
Saturday was the annual Jr. Carlsbad race that my girls love to participate in.  We were SO proud of how they did!  Jason went with Sydney to the start line to run the mile.  Brooke and I waited patiently in our normal spot.

We waited, and then there came our awesome sister zooming around the corner!  Go Sydney go!!

She did SO good, we were really impressed.  She ran the whole mile, no hesitation, and completed in under 11 minutes.  She's ready to do another race right away.

So then we got to go explore the expo booths for a little while, and waited for the toddler trot.  Brooke was pumped up after watching Syd, and ready to go run FAST!

And, there she goes!  Zooming down the black carpet...

It was a very fun morning, we're looking forward to next year.  Sydney will still do the mile, Brooke will move up to 1/4 mile...big girl!  The girls are always proud of their medals.

And, Sydney is always willing to pose for "just one more picture" for Mommy...love that girl :)

More of that cute puppy

Sunday, April 3, 2011
My girls enjoyed so much having Baxter over to play (in fact they're pretty sure Baxter likes our house the best, and so he should've stayed)...but, he had to go home.  He's a very busy boy being only 10 weeks old, so my girls had the clever idea of keeping him in the laundry basket so they could pet him!

It worked quite well for a few pets, but busy Baxter was anxious to get back out and run around and explore.

He met perhaps his first kitty cat, and wasn't quite sure of the "meow" sound that came out of it.  Jewel wasn't the least bit afraid of Baxter, but baby Bax ran right back to his Mommy's lap.  So sweet...

Toothless

These two teeth came out before Halloween last year...shouldn't they be back in by now??
