Fun day at the Zoo

Tuesday, January 31, 2012
(We will just skip the part where Sydney's school nurse called and reported a sick Sydney with a fever)

There was no preschool last Friday (staff training day, or something like that) went to the Zoo with some buddies.  On our way into the Pandas they wanted to take our picture.  I said we shouldn't do it because then we'll want to buy the $20 picture.  My friend said, lets just do it for fun...sure enough...we bought a darn stinkin' $20 picture.  Aren't we cute?  Haha.  This picture makes me giggle!

Reading in the rain

Wednesday, January 25, 2012
Monday was a rainy day.  We got to snuggle in the house and be warm and cozy.  Brooke is not reading this book...this is Sydney's book...but she likes to pretend.  She even moves her head from side to side like she's enjoying the story.  It's quite amusing!

Preschool Fun

On Fridays three of us preschool Moms rotate taking the preschoolers after school, and meet at big kid pickup.  It gives two of the three moms a full day without kids to get stuff done.  It's amazing what you can get done with three extra hours.  Last Friday though, it was my turn with the kiddos.  Our next door neighbor likes to join us when we have the three preschoolers over also, which is tons of fun.

Friday was princess dress up day (after they helped me bake Jason's cake!).  They tore into Brooke's treasure chest of clothes, and got all "fancy".  They are pretty darn cute!

Basketball Picture Day

Sunday, January 22, 2012
It was picture day.  So of course I brought my own camera.  I made Syd pose for some pictures before her "official" one.  Isn't she pretty?

And then, when it was time for the "official" team shot, I stuck my head over the photographer's shoulder :)

I'm not sure basketball is going to be something we continue with, so I'm glad to have a few pictures to remember the experience!

Four Monkeys

Wednesday, January 18, 2012
It's time for the annual Father/Daughter dance at Sydney's school.  So, we needed to practice our setup!  Here are the four little monkeys.  It's rare to get a picture of all of them together, so we love it even with the hair all across Brooke's face!

So incredibly amazing

Yesterday Sydney's Girl Scout troop went whale watching.  I thought maybe we'd see a few whales brush their backs out of the water.  Wow, was I wrong!  We saw 9 whales total, with tail flips up in the air, and one set even did a full breach out of the water.  It was super impressive.

Not only did we see a ton of whales, we saw THOUSANDS of dolphins.  Imagine dolphins as far as you can see, everywhere around the boat, jumping out of water, swimming along side us.  It was surreal.

I was wishing I had my "real camera", but managed to catch a few shots with my small one just to remember the amazing sites.

Here's our super fun troop of girls.  Such a great group of girls.  Just two missing in this picture.

This was the coolest of all.  I didn't catch it at the most ideal moment, but two whales came all the way out of the water.  They came straight up, did a big flip over and back.  WOW!  My quicker camera would have been fabulous at this moment.

I had to catch video of the dolphins.  They were too quick for my little camera.  SO COOL!

I would definitely go on this trip again.  Although, I'm not sure we'll ever be as lucky to get such a great trip.  So thankful Sydney's sickness cleared up in time for this special day.

It started as a good day...

Brooke and I walked with Sydney into school.

And we hung out to watch the "Positive Penguin Power" assembly, and take pictures for the yearbook.  Brooke got to run around and act like a spy with her good buddy.  They thought it was pretty cool to be in the midst of the entire school, running around, not having to sit like everyone else.  It'll be interesting next year when they actually have to sit and listen like the rest of the kids.

After the assembly, Brooke and I ran a couple of errands, then went home.  That's when things went downhill.  Brooke started to complain, and said she was cold...sure sign of a fever.  Oh no!  Just as I was about to grab the thermometer the phone rang.  It was Sydney's school...the nurse.  "I have Sydney here, with a temperature of 100.6."  So, I didn't even get a chance to check Brooke, had to go grab Sydney.  I asked the nurse to check her temp...101.2.  Both had fevers!  Arg!  At least they coordinated this time.

So, we'll be here at home for a couple of days...

My kids are asosem!

(a.k.a "awesome")

Sydney is learning cursive, so everything comes in cursive these days :)

And of course, what big sis does...

Seriously though, they are pretty awesome...

Take a peek at the dolphins

We kicked off our Mini Mermaid running club this week, so I have been posting there...go take a peek!

The loving big sister

Sunday, January 1, 2012
The sweet little sister wanted me to take a picture of the sparkly ribbon that she found laying in the ground.  There we were taking the picture when the crazy big sister sneaks up behind, with her pogo stick, and pretends to attack sweet innocent little sister.  Thankfully she did nothing more than pretend, and it made for a rather amusing picture that they will enjoy later in life.
