The girls are spending their mornings at Vacation Bible School!  This is the first year that they both could go, it's very exciting.

And then every spare moment we have someone who likes to show off her new skill.  We have been going out at least three times per day, even at 8pm.  She is SO happy with herself.

We have a new bike rider in the family!

And she is SO proud of herself.  A few months back we took Brooke out to give two-wheel riding a shot.  She did great right off the bat, but I think we let her go a bit too soon because after she fell she didn't want to go anywhere near her bike for quite a while.  Recently our good buddy Auty learned to ride, so it refreshed our interest for Brooke.  We let her try the balance bike tactic for a bit, but in the end she just wanted to figure it out herself the old fashioned way.  I put the bike out for her, and she tried, tried, tried, until she got it.  And now, she's got it good!  She has progressed to wanting to learn how to skid, and go up hills.

The only downside is that she wants to do this ALL day long.  Yesterday we went out three times, she wanted to go longer.  She even asked to take her bike to the carwash.

She can barely stand for Daddy to get home from Arizona so she can show him what she can do!

She's one brave kiddo!

2012 has been a rough year for Sydney.  She has had ELEVEN illnesses...all comprised of high fevers, and yucky sore throats.  We have gone around with doctors since she was in Kindergarten, but this is the first year where it became very obvious that something was not right.  So, we finally got in with the right doctors, and got things taken care of (fingers crossed) once & for all!

Rewind a few months...I apologize in advance for the grossness...oh, and for all the pictures being from my cellphone, that was all I had amidst the illness, chaos, and hospital visit :)

This was a common site on our thermomenter...It reads 103.3...and I later found that 103.3 was the highest that thermometer would go, once I switched it was a regular site to see 104.2.  Yikes!

And her throat, to put it as the pediatrician put looked like garbage:

This would happen like clockwork every 3 weeks or so.  It got to where we could plan things around when Sydney was going to be sick.

So, yesterday was the big day to get those garbage tonsils removed!  We got to the hospital bright and early at 7am to check-in and get her into the fancy hospital clothes.  She got a special new cuddly bear that got to go along with her on her entire journey too :)

The procedure was quick!  She was in the recovery room in no time.  I think that part was the toughest part for Syd.  She did NOT want to wake up, and the pesky nurses kept trying to make her drink.  All she wanted to do was...

But, she did manage to finally wake up, and drink some fluid, and we got to go home.  She was feeling a bit nauseous though, so they took her out in a wheelchair.

And then once she was home she was pretty much back to her normal self!  She enjoyed her special hospital ice pack, and has eaten a good amount of pudding.

She didn't mind having a popsicle dinner last night, but after it was gone she moved right on to normal food, and had some pizza and cereal!

So, after all that, Sydney is doing great so far.  She says she has no pain, and isn't even taking any Tylenol.  She's eating great, and up and moving around like normal.  Now we just cross our fingers that no fevers arise for a very, very, VERY long time!

Here's a sneak peek at the new throat...I know you are dying to see it.  I must get a better picture ;).

Welcome to Sydney's store

She's open for business!

After sitting there for a while with barbies and stuffed animals, realizing Mommy wasn't going to put out money for those items, she switched to offering massages and hair girl!

How do you spell a million frillion?

Thursday, July 12, 2012
Well, like this I guess...

I found Brooke sitting up in my office the other day, writing away.

Once she saw me, she asked how to spell "million frillion".  Did I spell it right?

I am a promise!

Monday, July 9, 2012
I am a promise, I am a possibility, I am a promise...with a capital "P".  I am a great big bundle of POTENTIALITY.

This was one of Brooke's songs from preschool graduation.  She sang it every single night up until graduation, along with the other two songs they performed on the big day.  She knows I have a soft spot for "the promise" song, she knows it postpones her bedtime by two extra minutes, and so she is STILL singing that song every night before bed.  It's hard to resist.  So, I finally captured it on video.  I told her I will show it to her when she's all grown up.  She liked that plan.

Swim, Swim, Swim, Swim!

Sunday, July 8, 2012
Sydney is part of the Pacific Swim team this Summer.  It's a brand new experience for her.  They offer 4 optional swim meets during the Summer.  We weren't quite sure if she was ready to participate in one, but she was super enthusiastic about doing it, so we did!

We showed up thinking she'd enter the back stroke for sure, that is her strongest stroke.  We figured she'd give freestyle a shot also.

First up was freestyle, and here she is.  She wasn't quite sure about how that noise start thingy went, so she was a tad delayed.  But, she still did great for her very first race ever!  Go Syd!

Up next was the back stroke.  She had no hesitation on this one, and came in first for her group!

Relays came up next, I thought she'd want a break, but nope...she wanted to do it too!  She chose to go second.

And, then, to finish it out...she was having so much fun she said she wanted to enter breast stroke too!  It's definitely not her strongest stroke, so I was so proud that she still wanted to give it a shot.

She maximized out the number of events you are allowed to compete in. It was a great day for Sydney.  She was tired, but so pumped and excited to do another meet.

Happier times at the Griffin House

Aunt Kathie complained at the lasting sick picture of, we made an attempt at capturing something more happy for her :).

This was as smiley as they got though...

They have been busy doing puzzles...and they won't take them down until we show someone, so, here you go!

I told them the other pics weren't smiley enough, so we tried again...

They do better being silly though :)
