She's one brave kiddo!

2012 has been a rough year for Sydney.  She has had ELEVEN illnesses...all comprised of high fevers, and yucky sore throats.  We have gone around with doctors since she was in Kindergarten, but this is the first year where it became very obvious that something was not right.  So, we finally got in with the right doctors, and got things taken care of (fingers crossed) once & for all!

Rewind a few months...I apologize in advance for the grossness...oh, and for all the pictures being from my cellphone, that was all I had amidst the illness, chaos, and hospital visit :)

This was a common site on our thermomenter...It reads 103.3...and I later found that 103.3 was the highest that thermometer would go, once I switched it was a regular site to see 104.2.  Yikes!

And her throat, to put it as the pediatrician put it...it looked like garbage:

This would happen like clockwork every 3 weeks or so.  It got to where we could plan things around when Sydney was going to be sick.

So, yesterday was the big day to get those garbage tonsils removed!  We got to the hospital bright and early at 7am to check-in and get her into the fancy hospital clothes.  She got a special new cuddly bear that got to go along with her on her entire journey too :)

The procedure was quick!  She was in the recovery room in no time.  I think that part was the toughest part for Syd.  She did NOT want to wake up, and the pesky nurses kept trying to make her drink.  All she wanted to do was...

But, she did manage to finally wake up, and drink some fluid, and we got to go home.  She was feeling a bit nauseous though, so they took her out in a wheelchair.

And then once she was home she was pretty much back to her normal self!  She enjoyed her special hospital ice pack, and has eaten a good amount of pudding.

She didn't mind having a popsicle dinner last night, but after it was gone she moved right on to normal food, and had some pizza and cereal!

So, after all that, Sydney is doing great so far.  She says she has no pain, and isn't even taking any Tylenol.  She's eating great, and up and moving around like normal.  Now we just cross our fingers that no fevers arise for a very, very, VERY long time!

Here's a sneak peek at the new throat...I know you are dying to see it.  I must get a better picture ;).
